Prop Emergency Dispatching will allow us to Hire Additional 911 Dispatchers

Additional dispatchers funded by Prop Emergency Dispatching will mean shorter call wait times and faster dispatching of units to emergency scenes. This is particularly beneficial during peak times or high-call-volume situations, where every second counts. Since 2008, Warren County Emergency Dispatching Center has experienced a 115% increase in phone call volume, while the county’s population has grown 72% since the 911 Center was established. This increase in call volume, population growth and additional first responders on the street has created the need for additional 911 Dispatchers.

Prop Emergency Dispatching will also do the following:

  • Reduced Dispatcher Fatigue: With a fully staffed team, dispatchers can operate at a sustainable pace, reducing errors and improving the quality of information provided to responding agencies. Firefighters, EMS, and law enforcement officers will receive accurate, clear instructions, which can be critical in life-saving situations.

  • Retention and Recruitment of Skilled Dispatchers: The additional funding will make the 911 center a more attractive workplace, helping to recruit and retain skilled professionals. A stable, experienced dispatch team is essential for high-quality emergency response, which ultimately benefits every first responder agency that relies on the center.

  • Increased Dispatcher Training: Prop 911 will fund enhanced training for dispatchers, equipping them to handle complex situations, work with the latest technology, and support each emergency agency’s unique needs more effectively.
