ENHANCING OUR 911 SERVICES FOR A SAFER COMMUNITY

What is prop Emergency Dispatching

Proposition Emergency Dispatching is a quarter-cent sales tax proposal on the April 8th 2025 ballot. This essential measure aims to address critical limitations facing Warren County’s Emergency Dispatching Center, which serves as a lifeline for residents in urgent need. This proposed quarter-cent sales tax represents the first tax rate increase for Warren County‘s Emergency Dispatching Center since the Center’s establishment in 1994. Throughout its history, the Center has demonstrated fiscal responsibility, managing funds carefully and securing additional revenue through grants, radio tower rentals, and prepaid wireless fees. This approach has allowed the Center to serve the community effectively for nearly three decades without raising taxes. However, as the community and emergency demands grow, Prop Emergency Dispatching will ensure the Center can meet these expanded needs sustainably.

Since 2008, Warren County Emergency Dispatching Center has experienced a 115% increase in phone call volume, while the county’s population has grown 72% since the 911 Center was established. If approved, the sales tax increase will fund necessary expansions and improvements, ensuring the community receives fast, reliable emergency response services.

Proposition emergency dispatch Will:

  • Hire Additional 911 Dispatchers

Additional 911 Dispatchers will ease the workload of existing Dispatchers, reduce response times, and enable the Center to handle more calls during peak hours, ensuring faster, more effective service. Hiring additional Dispatchers will also reduce burnout and enable Dispatchers to focus on each call more effectively. Prop Emergency Dispatching will also fund advanced training for Dispatchers

  • Expand 911 Dispatch Center

The current facility, constructed in 1995, has outgrown its space and struggles to meet increased service demands. Expansion will improve the Center’s capacity and enhance the efficiency of daily operations. This expansion will create room for additional staffing and be better equipped to handle high call volumes during emergencies.

  • Upgrade Public Safety Radio System

This upgrade will strengthen communication across multiple agencies and reduce service dead zones, supporting a coordinated, timely response to emergencies across the county. This build out will allow us to add additional command and tactical radio channels to enhance communication amd unified command during large fires, active shooters and natural disasters.
